In bargaining sessions this past week, Caltech and the Caltech Graduate Researchers and Postdocs United (CGPU-UAW) reached tentative agreements on provisions related to evaluations and vacation and sick days.
Consistent with the Institute's policies for staff members, postdoctoral scholars, and graduate students, the tentative article on vacation and sick days outlines the terms for eligibility, allocation, and use of that time. Postdoctoral scholars are entitled to 21 days of paid vacation and 15 days of paid sick time annually. Graduate students are entitled to 10 days of paid vacation and 15 days of paid sick time annually. Vacation days, which are coordinated and approved by an individual's supervisor, are in addition to the Institute's observed holidays, which are detailed in an earlier article.
The parties have currently reached tentative agreements on 24 provisions, details of which are documented in previous updates. Caltech and CGPU-UAW plan to meet again in-person to continuing bargaining in October.
